We're on a Mission

To make sustainable, plastic free products accessible and affordable in Trinidad & Tobago.

The current environmental crisis is clear and as a small island we’re particularly vulnerable to it. It’s important to make a cultural shift towards living with minimal impact on the environment so that we can secure a thriving future on a clean planet. We hope to make that shift a bit easier by providing sustainable options that are also affordable and convenient.

Why Ditch Plastic Anyway?

  • Over 8 billion tons of plastic have been produced in the past 60 years.
  • Only 9% of plastic has been recycled globally
  • A truck full of plastic is dumped into our oceans every minute.
  • There are more than 5 trillion plastic particles weighing >250,000 tons in the world’s surface waters.
  • Plastic debris kills over 1 million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals every year.
  • 70 – 80% of marine plastic comes from land sources.
  • Microplastics have been found in the air we breathe and the food we consume, the peak of Everest and the depths of the ocean.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed it’s the only thing that ever has.”

– Margaret Mead

Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Chiara the founder of Harmony Eco Products. I was compelled to start this business in 2018 after personally growing towards a more conscious, less waste life for a few years. I grew up in an animal loving, fairly waste-conscious home. We never had bottled water and saved everything to reuse, bags and bottles and even wrapping paper. After studying chemical and environmental engineering in the UK for 4 years, I returned home with a better awareness of environmental issues and a bigger appreciation of the natural beauty of our islands.

Litter-ridden beaches and viral videos of dead animals with stomachs full of plastic began to weigh heavily on me. It was clear that single use plastic was a huge environmental crisis and I was playing a direct role in it. I tackled a reduction first in my period products since it seemed easiest to quietly change something that only affected me. When I discovered the menstrual cup, it changed so much for me. I had been prepared to make a sacrifice to use something less wasteful but realized that the cup was actually a blessing with so many personal benefits. It sparked me to discover other alternatives.

Then my love to create and formulate stepped in and I began making my own zero waste products. When family and friends loved my creations and wanted to buy them, I realized there really was a demand for these low waste options – especially if made affordable and accessible locally.

Everything for sale here is already a trusted part of my life and passed the critiques of my family and friends too. Hope they will bring some joy to your more sustainable life and that together we can secure our future on a clean and thriving Earth!
